Signing Mortgage Documents Out of Canada?
Signing mortgage documents outside Canada? No problem!
There are some times when the borrower just can’t be present in Canada for signing mortgage documents.
We get it, sometimes trips are already planned or your maybe their job has to take them away. Sometimes that’s just how it goes. Borrowers are just simply unable to be physically present to sign their mortgage documents in Canada before their closing date.
Thankfully, here at Kokanee Mortgage, this is not an issue!
Our team has systems in place for when this issue arises. And thankfully with the technology of today, documents can be signed quickly and efficiently, even if it’s the originals that are required.
Part of our process is that we will often use a Notary Public from whichever country the borrower is in. In turn, they help to facilitate the execution of the documents.
We have experience sending document packages all over the world for signing.
In the past, this has even included a cruise ship. The family was on vacation in the middle of the ocean when it was time for their mortgage documents to be signed. We in turn had the document package sent to them electronically. When the ship docked in Australia, a Notary Public witnessed their signatures. Since the originals were required, we arranged for a courier to ship the documents back to Canada, in time for the closing date. The deal was closed on time and without so much as a hitch.
The amazing team at Kokanee Mortgage includes some of the most innovative lawyers across Canada. They continue to find creative ways to get the deal closed in the face of obstacles. If you have a deal where signing mortgage documents must be done out of the country or with other unique closing challenges, call us for help.
